Getting Sponsored as an Immigrant Aspiring Designer
We are here to help, mentor, guide, and support.
Unfortunately, we cannot sponsor everyone… but we strive to do our best to sponsor as many applicants as we can!
In order to be considered for sponsorship by one of our sponsors, you will need to meet the following criteria:
You are a first-generation immigrant (meaning you were born in another country and moved to this country when you were an adult).
You have done research prior to this program, and you are absolutely sure that you want to become a UX or Product Designer.
You can prove that you are not financially able to support yourself in becoming a UX or Product Designer (you are unemployed, underemployed, or in a low-wage job with no substantial savings).
You can commit at least 6 months of your time to education, mentorships, guidance, sponsor meetings, etc.
You have at least basic English skills and the ability to understand, write and read in English (all of the courses we vet are in English)
You are willing to share your immigrant story and journey with us when applying (it is important for us to understand your journey, your why, your dreams, and aspirations)
How does the selection work:
Every 6 months we will open up a limited number of sponsorship spots, which will be announced on Yan Grinshtein’s LinkedIn, during that period, application submissions will be open for 30 days, and once the application time slot will be closed, accepted applicants will be notified by email about their acceptance into the project.
People who didn’t make it will be notified via email with an option to submit again the next time the applications are open unless you were disqualified, in such a case a reason for your disqualification will be provided.
This is not a non-profit or for-profit organization, this is a project, which means we do not have legal standing to make sure you meet your required obligations as a participant, we simply rely on the honesty and good intentions of all people involved. So please, if you are not sure if you can commit to at least 6 months of learning and mentorships, we appreciate the interest, but maybe apply another time when you are sure. Thank you!
